Today, the CLC is a joint endeavour of the International Co-operative Alliance (HRD Committee), the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Professor Ian MacPherson, (founder of the British Columbia Institute for Co-operative Studies). Since 2004, Professor MacPherson has been designated as the CLC project coordinator and manager by the ICA.

In 2006, BCICS was awarded $10,000 USD in grant funding from International Labour Organisation (ILO) to expand the youth resources section of the CLC in English and Spanish and to integrate with the content of the BCICS Youth Co-op Zone website. Additionally, these funds were being used to coordinate the development of new youth-focused resources in the form of case studies, information on effective practices for co-op development, and resources for educating youth about co-operatives. Many of these youth-focused resources are featured on this site. These funds also assisted in the development of the CLC website leading up to the 2008 Building Co-operative Futures Conference (a youth conference to engage youth). An archive of the educational content from this conference is available on this site.

In 2008, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) provided a modest grant to assist in the development of the latest version of the site. The funds from SSHRC assisted in the upgrade of the website, in the addition of content on Fair Trade as it relates to co-operatives and in the development of new methods of searching the site contents.
